"If there
is a single position associated with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu it would
be the Guard. Thus, for a decade fight enthusiasts have turned to
the leading Brazilians instructors for lessons, seminars, and material
on tape or DVD on use of the Guard. It is a testament to the worldwide
spread of Mixed Martial Arts, and to the excellence of the talent,
that one of the premier Guard tapes on the market comes from the
UKs Nathan Leverton.
The two tape
set does not simply offer a series of techniques (although it does
that in abundance) but also explains with crystal clarity the principles
behind it, and drills to make those principles your own. Although
beginners could make great use of it, this is not a beginner tape,
so much as a fundamental structure on which to build for the next
ten years.
This two tape
set has my highest recommendation!"

"These
tapes are a great way to help make your guard a horrible place to
be." - Paul McVeigh
"I
just finished viewing Nathan Leverton's two-tape series on "the
Guard" for the second time. I must say that they are outstanding!
Nathan does a fantastic job presenting and teaching the most important
elements of the guard position. He starts with building a solid
foundation and progresses from there in a very systematic manner.
Everything (i.e. the techniques and tactics) he chose to put on
these tapes are efficient and effective; there is nothing superfluous.
In conjunction with this, Nathan's teaching style is such that all
his explanations are highly detailed, making these tapes truly accessible
for learning on your own (with a good training partner, of course).
So, if you seriously want to improve your guard, I unreservedly
recommend these tapes! They are second-to-none! Great job Nathan,
keep up the good work! - Lito Angeles, Black Belt
Magazine
"The tapes
are fantastic." - Chris McChesney
"If you
want to boost your no gi guard (and gi) you definately need this
set. Oh yeah, I have other no gi submission grappling instructionals
by top name ADCC champions and none of them get into this much detail
on the guard. Don't waste your money, get Levo's set."
" The gi
guard and the no gi guard, to me, are two different animals mainly
because you don't have a collar, sleeve etc. The way Levo uses these
grips and body positioning, the techniques from each grip, and the
way he flows from one grip to another or one technique to another
is simply brilliant! I've been working one technique, the triangle
from the head hook and all I can say is why didn't I learn this
from my instructors. Anyway, like I said if you have the money and
are serious about improving your no gi guard get Levo's set. You
won't be sorry." - M. Guzman, MMA.tv
"I just
received your Guard tape series and found it to be the best tape
I have ever seen on this subject...I enjoyed these tapes and I thought
your presentation was very clear, precise and detailed." -
G. Lee, USA
"This is
the best material I have ever seen for the guard. Your teaching
method is priceless! So much useful material, the presentation so
efficient." - Tom, USA
"I just
finished watching Levo's Guard tapes. I thought that they were really,
really good, and I wish I'd encountered them 5 or 6 years ago, because
they would have accelerated my learning process tremendously."
- Stephan Kesting, Grapplearts.com
"I have
to say this is some of the best instruction I've ever seen on a
martial arts video...The information on your tapes is definitely
going to help me fill in those gaps in my game." - Matt
Albanese
"After
reading the many posts about Levo's tapes i pondered purchasing
them. I have a huge library on this subject. But something in my
game was still missing. I couldn't quite put it all together. I
have a strong game, but always relaxed, defending and waiting to
attack. Watching Levo's tapes has inspired me....his approach to
teaching and thinking is clearly creative and sophisticated. It's
not just about the knowledge, but also the creativity. Nathan is
the Bruce Lee of the guard game." - Stompin1,

"I received
the guard and half guard tapes two days ago. Shipping was only 6
days from UK to Australia! The video is clear and instruction is
easy to follow. I do judo and it works with the gi. I'm already
using the "high guard" in newaza(ground sparring). It
gives me more control. Keep up the good work Nathan! " - J.
Anacleto, Australia
"these
tapes rock...why is it that the tapes that really take your game
to a new level are the tapes you watch and you slap yourself in
the head for not thinking this stuff up yourself...Nathan teaching
style is informative and straight to the point, no wasting time
going over and over like some tapes do...the part on the different
grips is worth the price of admission alone..really great stuff.

"The videos
are brilliant, myself and few friends went over some of the techniques
with brilliant results. I also used them in the club. I caught some
guys I never can catch usually, thanks for that!!" - M.

on the guard are outstanding! I got much out of them." - J.

"To be
the best grappling teacher you need to be born into a grappling
family right? WRONG.... To be the best you need to be from Brazil
right? WRONG.... You need to be at least a Black Belt right? WRONG....A
guy that is skinny, pale, only been grappling a short while, from
the UK has blown the lid off the guard. Levo's new guard series
is incredible. The techniques are not new. Everyone knows the triangle,
armbar, etc. I have tons of tapes from famous names that just show
a bunch of techniques. They don't teach you how to use the guard.
Levo teaches strategy. He shows how to use motion and ideas to set
up the final submission. I now recognize what some purple and higher
belts do to me. The problem is they could never put it in words.
All I ever got was train more. Levo instead teaches you to train
smarter. From watching the tape I now know how to have an attacking
guard. Eddie Bravo may have the rubber guard but I now have the
"Levo" guard. Also, good customer service!" - M.
Grandinetti, USA
"Nathan
has a nice of way of showing the progression of using an attacking/aggressive
guard from the correct body positioning, to grips, to breaking posture.
He then combines all of the above and links in high percentage submission
techniques. It's very coherent, easy to understand and everything
flows nicely...there is no BS or wasted space on the tapes unlike
some other instructionals that have too much fillers. I am very
pleased with the purchase and will definitely buy from Nathan again."
- G. Mesina
"I am extremely
pleased with the videos. They are the BEST guard tapes I own (and
I have nearly every instructional ever put out.)
I love "concept" tapes that are detailed in stating why
certain things are done or are not to be done. These tapes offer
great "flow" as far as connectedness of positions/techniques,
and your review of basic principles to follow helps to ensure that
the big picture is never lost." - M. Hudack,
USA
"I've had
the tapes since last weekend and my guard game has come on leaps
& bounds! Great tapes!" - Dave Green
"I'm mightily
impressed with your videos...five minutes into your guard videos
and I'm learning things I havn't learnt in a months worth of grappling"
- J. Wilding
"Definitely
the best value martial art instructionals I've ever seen."
- John Hopton
"They are
awesome...Your guard tapes are the best in the business...Your tapes
are virtually the only tapes in the ground game which really deserve
the name 'instructionals'. Keep
up the good work." - K. Panijpan
"I received
my guard tape set last week and I've already watched them three
times....I really appreciate your fast deliveries....you have managed
to make an instructional video set that is very accessible and from
which one can learn moves quickly, even a beginner like me....you've
greatly improved my ground game" - T. Koski,
Finland
"...EXACTLY
what I wanted...
Nathan's got
many ideas about breaking the guy's posture, moving your hips, using
your legs and using wrestling-like clinchwork with your arms that'll
give your opponent a much harder time in your guard...it's just
the way controlling and submitting is put together that's so special
about Nathan's way of teaching.
...Nathan doesn't
waste time doing a technique too many times. He teaches fast but
with all the important details and emphasis in there, so you'll
get your money's worth. I hope more people will check these tapes
out..." - J. Gunnar, Iceland
